My work deals with a developing study of movement. This process involves observing and gleaning images from a very broad range of stimuli, for example, inanimate and animate objects, human and animal subjects, landscapes, tangible and intangible energies. Using a symbolised visual vocabulary I am trying to describe a relationship between all these component parts and how they interact within a self created environment. I use subdued matte colours to signify pure space, and working with a vivid palette, I define certain entities moving within this finite space. What I am trying to achieve is a peculiar and personal view of an environment, a view that is perceived from many viewpoints simultaneously. This environment is populated by various types of entity, things that are solid and fluid, tangible and intangible. Solid bodies are described using solid marks or shapes, the moving energy around them is described using gestural, textural marks as are the illusions of light and the passage of linear time.

My most recent work, created digitally, has a consistant theme of entrances, doors and walls, flat interfaces that have no apparent perspective. These images are directly influenced by the works of Antonio Tapies, and are all developed from personal photographs.
